Writing Book Font Review for Branding Projects

I was working on a branding project for a small artisanal bakery last week, and I found myself staring at a blank brand board. The challenge? Creating a cohesive identity that felt warm, inviting, and slightly whimsical. After testing several fonts, I landed on Writing Book, and it immediately brought a sense of charm and character to the concept.

A Font with Personality

Writing Book has a distinct visual style that feels both elegant and approachable. Its latest style letters are designed with a fluidity that’s perfect for wall displays, wedding invitations, and social media post logos. The curves are soft but deliberate, giving it a handcrafted feel without being overly ornate. It's not just a font—it's a storytelling tool.

The personality of Writing Book is subtle yet expressive. It leans into a mood that’s romantic, creative, and slightly nostalgic. This makes it ideal for projects that want to evoke emotion or tell a story through typography. Whether you're designing a product label or an advertisement, this font adds a layer of warmth that can be hard to achieve with more modern typefaces.

Testing in Real Design Scenarios

I tested Writing Book across multiple branding elements. On the bakery’s logo draft, it worked beautifully as a headline font, adding a touch of elegance without overpowering the overall design. When placed on a packaging mockup, it felt natural—like it belonged there. Even on a business card, the font didn’t feel too decorative; it still maintained readability while adding visual interest.

On a website header, I paired it with a clean sans-serif font for body text. The contrast was effective, helping to establish a clear visual hierarchy. For social media layouts, I used Writing Book as a short phrase font—perfect for captions or taglines. It added a personal, handwritten touch that resonated well with the audience.

Where Writing Book Shines

Writing Book excels as a display font, headline font, and accent font. It’s best suited for short phrases, logos, and decorative elements rather than long body text. In editorial design, it can be used sparingly to highlight key sections or pull quotes. In commercial design assets, it brings a unique flair that sets your brand apart from the competition.

It’s particularly well-suited for projects like boutique identities, café visual refreshes, skincare product brands, and handmade shop branding. The font’s versatility allows it to adapt to various contexts while maintaining its core identity. However, it may not be the best choice for formal corporate use, where readability and minimalism are priorities.

Practical Tips for Using Writing Book

If you’re considering using Writing Book in your next project, I recommend testing it thoroughly before committing to final client work. Try it out on different surfaces—print, digital, large formats, and small sizes. Make sure it maintains its appeal across all mediums.

Font pairing is also essential. I found that combining Writing Book with a serif font created a balanced look for editorial design, while pairing it with a modern sans-serif font gave web designs a fresh, contemporary feel. Always consider how the font interacts with other design elements to ensure consistency and professionalism.

Before using Writing Book in client work, make sure to check the commercial font licensing. This is especially important if you plan to use it in brand identity, packaging, templates, merchandise, websites, or print-on-demand products. Ensuring proper licensing protects both you and your clients from potential legal issues.

Also, take note of the included styles, alternates, ligatures, swashes, weights, and multilingual support. These features can enhance your design work significantly, allowing for greater customization and flexibility in your projects.

Whether you're designing a logo, creating a poster, or updating a website header, Writing Book offers a unique aesthetic that can elevate your brand’s visual identity. It’s a font that invites creativity and connection—just like the businesses it helps represent.
