Testing New Stilere for a Modern Website Design
I was working on a rebranding project for a boutique online store that sells handcrafted jewelry, and I needed a font that would feel both professional and creative. After some research, I came across New Stilere, a modern and playful handwritten script font. It immediately caught my eye because of its organic feel and the way it seemed to balance creativity with readability.
The first thing I did was test New Stilere in the hero section of the website. I placed it over a full-width image of a necklace, using a soft overlay to ensure the text stood out. The font’s flowing curves gave the headline a personal, artisanal touch, which perfectly matched the brand’s identity. But I also had to consider how it would look on smaller screens, so I made sure the font size adjusted responsively without losing legibility.
One of the key aspects of any font is its impact on readability. New Stilere isn’t a dense or overly ornate script, so it works well for short phrases like headlines and call-to-action buttons. However, I found that using it for longer paragraphs wasn’t ideal—it can be harder to scan through large blocks of text. That’s why I reserved it for decorative elements, such as subheadings, taglines, and social media graphics.
For body copy, I paired New Stilere with a clean sans serif font like Montserrat. This combination created a nice contrast between the playful and the professional. The result felt cohesive and helped guide the user’s eye naturally from the bold display font to the more straightforward body text.
Another consideration was the font’s compatibility with design tools. Since the client uses Photoshop and Silhouette Design Studio, I checked that New Stilere worked seamlessly in those environments. It did—without any issues, which made the implementation process much smoother.
I also tested New Stilere in different color schemes. On light backgrounds, the font looked elegant and refined. On dark backgrounds, I used a lighter text color to maintain visibility. In both cases, the font added a sense of warmth and approachability to the site’s overall aesthetic.
When designing the product landing page, I used New Stilere for the main headline and then switched to a simpler typeface for the supporting content. This helped establish a clear visual hierarchy and made the information easier to digest. The font also worked well in the header navigation, where it added a subtle touch of personality without overwhelming the layout.
One thing I noticed while testing was that New Stilere could be a great fit for digital ads and promotional banners. Its playful nature makes it stand out in crowded feeds, especially when paired with high-quality visuals. I used it for a campaign landing page, and it helped create a memorable first impression that aligned with the brand’s voice.
For the blog section, I used New Stilere sparingly—in the headers of each post. This helped break up the content visually and made the posts feel more engaging. I also experimented with using it in image overlays for featured posts, which added an extra layer of visual interest without distracting from the content itself.
Before finalizing the design, I made sure to check the font’s included styles, webfont availability, and file formats. New Stilere came with several alternates and weights, giving me flexibility in how I used it across the site. Since it’s a freebie, I also verified that it met the necessary licensing requirements for commercial use, which was reassuring for the client.
In the end, New Stilere became one of the key design assets in the project. It brought a unique character to the brand’s digital presence and helped differentiate it from competitors. Whether used in headers, banners, or social media graphics, the font consistently delivered a polished yet creative feel that resonated with the target audience.
If you’re looking for a script font that feels modern, versatile, and easy to work with, New Stilere is definitely worth testing in your next project. It’s a great example of how the right typography choice can elevate the overall user experience and reinforce your brand’s identity without sacrificing functionality.
